Living the GOOD Life in Real Life: Make an appointment with yourself everday!

We make appointments for everything. We bombard our calendars with meetings, events, work-related gatherings, etc., but do we pencil our well being and balance into the mix? I have the tendency to literally "rock it 'till the wheels fall off". Unfortunately, the aftermath of that is a complete breakdown and burnout that requires lots of effort to get back to a better place. Instead we should be constant keepers of our social, emotional, and spiritual well being while working hard to achieve our dreams, goals, and ambitions. In order to do this, make an appointment with yourself for at least 15 minutes. If you commit to finding at least 15 minutes, it will amaze you how much time you do have that is wasted or misdirected. During this time, do a self-check up. This can manifest in many forms whether by meditating, writing, doing yoga, dancing in the living room, taking an interesting non-work related class, watching nature, or a quick nap, etc. Make an appointment to fill your tank back up. In filling up your tank, you can then help fill the tanks of other with ease. Disconnect from the stressors of life everyday even if all you can spare is 10-15 minutes. Approach your mental well being just like your physical well being and practice preventive maintenance so you can live the GOOD life in real life.

Living the Good Life in Real Life: Rethink your legacy

Many times people stress themselves out attempting to leave a legacy for their children, grandchildren, future generations, etc. This legacy usually focuses mainly on money or material possessions such as property, homes, and other assets. It is nothing wrong with that at all and I admire people who sacrifice so that the future is bright for another. At the same time, we need rethink what we are going to leave future generations. Let's use part of energy to leave a legacy of things money cannot buy. Let's make sure the next generation is more peaceful than our current one. Let's sow seeds of love so that our children, grandchildren, and many others after us may show unending love to each other. Let's leave a legacy of openness and honesty so that future generations can communicate and bring about great change in their personal, professional, and global lives. Be an example of love, faith, patience, and positive energy that people aspire to. These are truly the traits will last eternally and cause you to live the GOOD life and pass it on to others.

Peace and Blessings

Living the GOOD Life in Real Life: Be 5/5ths!

The lyric/spoken word from Common's "It's Your World" resonates with me so strongly and guides this blog post.

"Be ammended 5/5ths, be ammended 5/5ths human."

The world needs ALL of you, since there is only one of you on Earth. The worlds needs for you to fully BE who you were purposed and created to be. The destiny of another is dependent on you fullfilling your destiny. People, places, and things will chip away at the fullness of your being sometimes intentionally, sometimes not. Either way, you have to be deliberate about keeping yourself built up as a strong, humble being. When at 5/5ths, you are at your absolute strongest, best self. The minute you start to let go, shrink, and diminish is the moment of great vulnerability. Vulnerable to offense, fear, distrust, unhappiness, and bitterness. Be amended as the song suggests. To amend means to make better, correct, improve, reform. Your amendment is in YOUR hands.

Be 5/5ths so that the world can be 5/5ths.

Living the Good Life in Real Life: Confront Procrastination

When we are living the good life, we are prospering and feeling productive. Oftentimes when we are procrastinating we are definitely not feeling productive, no matter how small or large the task. How can we start moving upwards against the pressure of procrastination? For me , it was really about identifying why I was putting tasks off. Usually, it was because of fear. What if this idea actually gets off the ground? What if I put all of my effort into this work/task? Much of the time, actually conquering tasks was going to align with success in my life. In order to get to that point, its good to prioritize what needs to be done. Start small and finish a task like de-cluttering or organizing your bills. Then move on to bigger things, but take small steps. Consistency is the greatest key to success. Step by Step you will be walking towards greatness and reaching goals that were overwhelming at first.

Let go of Fear. Embrace greatness. Conquer the To Do List. Live the Good Life.

Party Like It's 2009:Living the Good Life in REAL Life!

It has come to my attention that I don't consistently blog. I think the biggest issue has been what can I actually consistently blog about? I have been inspired by many bloggers, especially my BSF, and I do enjoy getting my thoughts into the blogsphere, but I want it to be semi-relevant to somebody out there. So do I write random thoughts each day? Do I key in on an area of so-called expertise? Do I write about my profession as teacher superheroine? Or maybe music that I love these days? So many questions with so many answers.

I am a purveyor of the good life. So this blog will be dedicated to encouragement and themes toward everyone live the good life in Real Life.

How to Live the Good Life in REAL Life: Pursue Peace

Constant peace should not be an unreachable goal in your life. It is more than possible to have peace in the midst of a hectic and chaotic life. One of the definitions of peace via Websters is "harmony in human relations." It is no coincidence that when we feel like our relationships are not in sync we have very little inner peace. To pursue peace means to pursue harmony in our major relationships and minor encounters with people. In order to do this, we must acknowledge the things in our life, whether past or present, that disturb the peace within and figure out why they have that effect. That is the biggest obstacle since you can't move or get past a roadblock you don't think exists. It's important to let go of trying to change people who are not open to change. As you make changes to your life, others may not agree or make the same progression. That is sometimes hard to deal with but you have to breathe in, breathe out, let go, and let God. Each morning wake up and breathe in new peace determined not to let yesterday's disappointment and hurt infiltrate the freshness of a new day. Make the pursuance of peace as important as keeping your body healthy because it will keep your mind free.

Ode to Blogging

So I am sitting here watching Making His Band and wishing I had tried out, but you cannot live life with regrets! At any rate, what do I choose to do..blog. Call that the multi-tasking genius in myself. At any rate, I couldn't think of an appropriate title, so I came up with an "Ode to Blogging". I love writing but I have been neglecting it as of late. Writing is labor intensive and such a constant evolution of one's soul that make its rather difficult to maintain. I need to keep expressing my thoughts because its really wonderful to let go of those inner thoughts.

I love life. I love being me. I love helping others find simple inspiration.

Peace and Blessings,
